It's been so long, I can hardly even remember exactly WHEN my server died, but it did. My initial troubleshooting on the device showed me a clear power supply failure. As part of my Zero-Cost Proof-of-Concept, I was very much against the idea of just going out a getting a new power supply. Not only that, but could a new power supply even be found for such an old device?
Time passed, and I eventually got a hold of a new piece of hardware that could certainly be used as a basic LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) server. YAY!
So then time to retrieve the data from the old hard drive from the old server. This is when I found out that not only did the power supply die, but so did the HDD. Fortunately, I had made the wise decision to not just take backups, but get them OFF the device (and on to my file server). Thanks to this I was able to restore all the site data, but sadly lost all my website analytics history, but that's more or an idle curiosity rather than anything actually important. I managed to get this back as well, but it's like starting fresh... mind you, it's been so long I might as well be anyways.
So here we are.. back up and running (for now) and working on the next project.
