Over the next few weeks, I'll be doing some back-end (major) updates to my site. There may be delays and misses to my regular Wednesday articles...

Recently, I suffered a bit of a data loss (partially written articles) while attempting to make some changes to the backend. It turns out that what I had hoped were some relatively minor changes wound up being far more impactful than I had initially thought. And to top it off, I only learned that the changes were irreversible, requiring a restore from a backup. I know, this could have all been avoided through proper backup procedures, and prior testing (which I am implementing now), but I figured it would have at least somewhat reversible, which was my back-out plan.

So now I'm setting myself up a proper test lab, and will be making my changes there first, to ensure this kind of thing does NOT happen again.

As for the changes I'll be working on... The astute and return reader will have noticed a lack of images in my articles; the new readers, will now be aware of it ;) This is due to 2 primary reasons:

  1. I am not a designer, I am a do-er. Over the past many years, I have made many attempts and not just building, but designing some websites. While I can BUILD rock-solid, featureful sites, they have either been very plain (like this site here), or I waste (literally) hundreds of hours trying to make it LOOK nice, and the results are usually bad at best, and just downright horrible at worst.
  2. I lack an adequate image management setup with this site. To be honest, it isn't entirely due to a lack of options, there are plenty; it's mostly due to my pickiness, and my desire to really stick to my "Zero-Cost" concept, and not fork out any money for this site.

Until now, I haven't had need of any REAL "image management" setup of any kind... But now that I have a few articles I have been trying to write up (and lost) that have need of images, I actually to address this. In so doing, I lost much written, unpublished articles, and am in the position I am in now. So for the next few weeks I'll be focusing on finishing my lab and getting that going, and then addressing the image management. I'll be writing up what I can for new articles, but since my focus will be elsewhere, I will likely miss a Wednesday or 2 until I finish this up.

That being said, I will still be around and will be responding to the comments, and available via the Contact Me page.
